A&P Questions Flashcards
What provides innervation of the epineurium.
Nervi nervorum. They are afferent branches off the primary nerve fibers.
What is the Epineurium histologically?
Deep Fascia
What provides blood supply to nerves?
Segmental arteries along the epineurium and the vasa nevorum
What provides blood supply to the nerve roots?
Segmental/radicular arteries
What is the outermost layer of arteries?
Tunica adventitia
Which nerve fibers innervate the outermost layer of arteries?
Unmyelinated C fibers
What does it mean that C fibers are polymodal?
Because they can respond to thermal, mechanical and chemical stimuli.
What layer of the artery does SNA trigger to vasoconstrict?
Tunica media
How does Brian explain a Tender Point?
Areas of surface hyperalgesia that can be related to any anatomical (MS, viscera, vascular, neural…) system. Trigger points (Trp) are a MS version of Tender Points. They are hyperalgesia (TP) locations located in the MS system. Trp are part of the nocifensive “muscle guarding” reflex, protecting underlying fascial dysfunction of any MS or non-MS structure.
Why does LF cause capsulitis?
Per Brian, the quick resolution indicates some form of sympathetic nerve irritation at the involved level of LF dysfunction. Also, pulls on the dura and nerve root.
What layer of the nerve are lymphatics present? (Only layer)
Epineurium
