MDSO: Pre-Eclampsia / Eclampsia : Drugs/Doses/Patch

A

1) For S/S of severe pre-eclampsia (neuro, headaches, nausea, visual)) - prophylaxis for eclampsia
MgSO4 4g @ 150mg/min (mix 5g/250, limit at 200), then 1 g > 1 hr (last 50 mL> 1 hr) - - - - MP

2) Labetalol OR Hydralazine (for HTN) - MP

Labetalol : 10 -20 mg q 20 min PRN (or 1-2 mg/min), OR
Hydralazine: 5-10 mg > 2 min q 20 min PRN

3) If goes into seizure

   (As per Flow Chart) - Midaz 5 mg q 5 min + MgSO4 (as above - IF NOT already given, if given, then patch for consideration of more)

A

Tx: Standard Ca++

Ca Cl 1 g > 20 min PIV or > 5 min CVL , or

Ca Gluc 1g > 2-3 min PUSH

SS Tox: Hypotension, Resp Depression , Muscle Weakness
