Speaking test. In Part 1, it is highly likely that you will be asked about your
home town or the place where you are living at the moment and/or your
job or studies. IT is ESSENTIAL that you prepare some complex language
for these topics. The IELTS examiner starts thinking about your grade as soon
as you start speaking so impress him/her immediately! Go through the
language for each section and then make some notes and sample sentences
that you could use in the IELTS Speaking test.

Densely populated: Lots of people live there, Crowded
Example: I’m currently living in Manchester, which is a densely populated city in England.

Example: it is renowned for its football clubs.
A shopper’s paradise ~ Great place for shopping
Ex: The thing I love most about it is that it’s a shopper’s paradise.
A concrete jungle ~ Full of buildings
Ex: Sadly, it’s not the most beautiful place and could be described as concrete jungle.
Shop till you drop ~ Shop till you are very tired
Ex: One of things most visiotrs to Manchester do is shop till you drop.
On the outskirt of ~ On the ouside of
Ex: I don’t actually live in the city centre, I live on the outskirt of the city in anew residential area.
The rat race ~ A way of life in which people are caught up in a competitive struggle for wealth or power.
Ex: Living in Manchester can be stressful because you are living in the rat race.
Word/Job
**A job with good propsect **~ Job with chance of promotion
Ex: After leaving university, I’m hoping to get a job with good prospetcs.
A dead-end job ~ No promotion prospects
Ex: My current job is a dead-end and I need a career change.

Ex: I work in quite a competitive field so it’s tricky to get a top job.
To feel fulfilled/unfilled ~ To be happy / Unhappy at work
Ex: The reason I’d like to change careers is that I feel unfilled at the moment.

Ex: The best thing about my job is the feeling of satisfaction I get. It’s incredibly rewarding.
Workmates ~ The people you work with
Ex: I have a great group of workmates and we socialize outside the work.
Study
To be snowed under with~ To have lots to do
Ex: I absoulutely love my course, but I’m snowed under with assignments and deadlines at the moment.

Ex: I’m an avid reader so the best thing about the studying is I always have my head in a book.
