99 UAV Flashcards
Kepanjangan UAV
Unmanned Aerial Vehichles
What is UAV
Type of aircraft that can fly without pilot onboard. When it’s remotely controlled, it’s called Remotely Piloted Vehicle (RPV)
What does UAV-based survey provide?
Reducing field time and cost, avoiding ground disruptions, and efficiency, flexibility, and safety of mapping inaccessible area
UAV classification, explain two most used!
Rotary-Wing - performing vertical take-off and landing, flying at low attitude, cheaper and compact enough to be carried (single-rotor is helicopter and multi-rotor is quadcopters)
Fixed-Wing - long endurance flight, high speed, high payloads, but need a runway to take off and landing, also cannot hovering a point
Flapping-Wing
Hybrid UAV
UAV Survey disadvantages
Less accurate
Not suitable for large area
Limited time
Weather dependency
High cost
Easily break law
Security issue (hard to be protect)
Safety issue (dangerous in heavily-populated regions if it’s malfunctioning in mid-air)
Regulation of UAV
Owner must register their drone
Flight altitude < 121m above the datum. < 900m from the operator
Prohibited in restricted area
No activity above crowded
No dropping or spraying from drone
Flight can only between sunset and sunrise
Operator should be in the visual range and only operate one drone at once
