how to differentiate both types of pneumothorax?

A
  1. spontaneous (rupture of emphysema bleb)
    - trachea moves toward injured side
  2. tension (trauma)
    - trachea moves away from injured side.

A
  • chest tube to suck air out.
  • in tension pneumothorax, air is sucked in through opening, but cannot escape
