9.4 Flashcards
What are some simularites between meiosis and mitosis?
- types of reproduction
- Use the parent cell DNA
- Create Daughter Cells
What are some differences between meiosis and mitosis?
- Haploid vs Diploid
- Somatic vs Gamete
- 2 daughter cells vs 4 daughter cells
- Reproductive vs Growing cells
What in meiosis from prophase to telephase 1
The cell splits in 2 and the homogulous chromosomes split.
What happens in Metaphase 2?
The sister chromatides line up up along the metaphase plate.
What happens in anaphase 2?
The sister chromatides are pulled apart by the spindle fibers.
How many daughter cells result from meiosis?
4
Are the daughter cells identical to the parent cell in meiosis?
Not at all
Haploid
A cell with one of each chromosome
diploid
A cell with two of each chromosome
non-disjunction
This happens when in metaphase 1 or 2 the splitting of the homogulous chromosomes or sister chromatids fails to occur.
