Q

Explain chorus

A

Modulation effect that simulates multiple instruments/voices performing simultaneously by duplicating an audio signal.
The copied signal copy of signal is sightly delayed and detuned using LFO, breathing ‘shimmering’ effect (controls: wet dry, rate, intensity)

Q

What is flanger

A

Modulation effect, which is essentially a high pass filter, which adds movement (sweeping, comb filter) and has metallic sound

Comb filter occurs when the delayed signal is combined with dry, creating comb filter peaks and troughs in frequency response

Q

What is phasing

A

They duplicate the audio signal, one copy is run through an all-pass filter

This changed the phase of the waveform and when signals are combined, certain frequencies are boosted or cut because of the phase cancellation between signals, creating movement. Not to be confused with flanger, it is warmer and less metallic
