What Act regulates consumer protection and unfair trading?
Australian Consumer Law (ACL) It is also incorporated into schedule 2 of Competition and Consumer Act 2010
What courts have jurisdiction for matters regarding ACL?
All courts and tribunals in Australia do
What are the guarantees under ACL that relate to services?
Will be rendered with due care and skill
Will be reasonably fit for their purpose and will achieve the result to consumer wishes them to achieve
Will be supplied within a reasonable time
What is excluded as consumer guarantees for services under ACL?
Contracts of insurance
Contracts which are not with ‘consumers’
Contracts for transportation or storage of goods which are used for business and trade
