Q

In soils that _______ been affected by human activities, the rate of erosion is likely to be ______________ than the rate of soil formation. Erosion becomes a problem when it occurs ___________ than soil formation.

A

In soils that HAVE NOT been affected by human activities, the rate of erosion is likely to be THE SAME OR LESS than the rate of soil formation. Erosion becomes a problem when it occurs MORE RAPIDLY than soil formation.

Q

Why / how does wind erosion happen?

A

When some soils are dry, especially those with a low clay content, they are likely to be loose with little cohesion between the particles which would hold the soil together. If it is windy and the soil is unprotected it bay blow away.
