Proper noun
names any one of a group of persons, places, things, or ideas, and is not capitalized
Common noun
names an object that can be perceived by the senses (most likely is tangible)
Concrete noun
names an idea, a feeling, a quality, or a characteristic (cannot be physically touched)
Abstract noun
begin questions: who, whom, whose, which, what
Interrogative Pronouns
specific person, place, thing, or idea: this, that, these, those
Demonstrative Pronouns
people, places, things, etc in general; without antecedents: all, any, either, many, none
Indefinite Pronouns
are used for any general noun. They are “A” and “AN.”
Indefinite Articles
are used before a noun to indicate that the identity of the noun is known to the reader. “THE”.
Definite Article
express physical or mental activity; it’s what you do!
Action Verbs
action verbs that express action directed toward a person or thing named in the sentence
Transitive Verbs
action verbs that express action without passing the action from a doer to a receiver
Intransitive Verbs
verb that connects the subject to a word that identifies or describes it
Linking Verbs
consist of a main verb preceded by at least one helping verb (auxiliary verb)
Verb phrases
a word used to express emotion. It has no grammatical relation to the rest of the sentence.
Interjection
