8 - Bias: what is it and where does it come from Flashcards
How do you calculate the STA (spike-triggered average)?
By summing all LFP segments and dividing it by the number of spikes.
How do you get the LFP (local field potential)?
By removing the spikes and only be left with the influences around the neuron. So if the area gets more negative, the neuron depolarizes and spikes.
How do you get the spike-field coherence (SFC)?
by dividing the power spectrum of the STA by the average LFP power spectrum.
What effect does attention have on oscillations?
Gamma band activity increases and low-frequency band activity decreases
What is the method of Fries?
recorded with 4 electrodes with overlapping RFs. fixated on central spot after short delay, two stimuli presented at equal eccentricity. one inside and one outside RF. attention directed to either stimulus location. into RF - with attention, outside RF - without attention
