7 - biased competition as a model for selective attention Flashcards
1
Q
How does competition without attention work?
A
Weighted responses to probe and reference stimulus. If you have sensory interaction plotted against selectivity, you can use the slope to determine which one is dominant. if the slope = 1, the probe is dominant, if slope = 0, the reference is dominant.
2
Q
If you pay attention to the probe, what happens to competition?
A
The competition gets biased. The attended object will have more influence in the pair response.
3
Q
What is the method of Reynolds?
A
Two experiments one without attention another with attention, presented individually and as a pair. neuronal responses - monkey
