Difference between a severe and a non-severe MDI
Severe has more than a minimal effect, and non-severe has no more than a minimal effect on ability to do basic work activities.
Purpose of listings
-promote uniformity
-provide criteria of severity
-facilitate determinations
-make available to the public
What are the general medical ratings for cases?
-no MDI
-not severe
-meets listing
-equals listing
-severe but doesn’t meet/equal a listing (RFC)

What are the parts of a listing?
Preamble- explains function, treatment, and documentation requirements
Diagnostic Criteria- includes symptoms, signs, and laboratory findings necessary to document severity
What is required to establish a MDI?
Objective medical evidence from an AMS

Abnormalities that can be observed apart from the CLMT’s statement of symptoms
What is a symptom?
The CLMT’s own description of his or her impairments
