What happens to the brain during the disease of dementia?

A

Permanent and progressive loss of functioning tissue in the brain.
There is no cure, and 5% of the older population will get dementia. There is normally a gradual onset.

A

1(You become aware of the changes and become stressed out and fearful)
2(You have difficulty communicating and understanding some words. as the stage becomes worse you will become incontinent**you recognize people without knowing names.)

What is the most common cause of dementia?

A

Alzheimer’s disease. 60% of all cases are Alzheimer’s which is a progressive disease caused by things like genes, age and TBI. The onset is usually 65 & older.
Alzheimer’s- the brain shrinks and gets deposits of protein plaques and tangles the which causes nerve cells in the brain to deteriorate.

A
