78 + 79 Wing Flying Orders Flashcards
DC Bus Tie Failure (03-01):
1) What are restrictions for A/C flying < 130nm (instrument approach)/150nm (visual approach) or within 30 mins flying time?
2) What are restrictions > 130/150nm or outside 30 mins flying time of a suitable airfield?
1) Nil restriction
2) Flight planning is to ensure that the aircraft is able to achieve VMC and have required fuel to transit to a suitable airfield at the applicable altitude. VMC must be achieved prior to switching batteries off.
Landing Gear Down-Lock Relay Failure (03-02)
1) What does a failure of the Landing Gear Down Lock Relay affect?
2) What can aircrew do if they miss the landing gear handle light selecting gear up or down?
3) If during AFTO and BL Checks, the handle isn’t red, what can aircrew do to try and confirm?
1) - LG Down Confirmation Tone will sound regardless of actual LG position
- Gear Not Down audio warning (below 160 knots) will be inhibited
- Red LG Handle Light will not illuminate during gear transit
2) Press the LDG gear down tone to try and confirm. If the tone sounds, the relay has failed.
3) If AFTO checks, press LDG Gear down tone to try and confirm, if it sounds the relay has failed. In BL, down tone cannot be confirmed.
Adour Engine Low Pressure Turbine (LPT) Tip Shroud Failure (03-06)
1) If A/C and/or engine vibration is experienced or suspected, what should 78 Wing aircrew do?
1) Carry out Engine Mechanical Damage IAW the FCC Emergency Drills
Adour Engine Low Pressure Turbine (LPT) Failure (03-08)
1) What are the requirements for ESIMs given the above potential for failure?
2) What are low flying limitations imposed?
3) What are urban areas operation restrictions?
4) What are overwater restrictions?
5) What frequency do aircrew have to carry out post ejection drill training?
1) Every 30 days for trainees on IFC and OPSFLT
2) Min airspeed of 350 KCAS below 1000 ft AGL, except when aircraft is flown IAW normal procedures for dep. and recovery. Provides sufficient time to respond to a failure
3) When operating in vicinity of an urban area, energy state of the AC should be sufficient for the crew to glide beyond the urban area prior to ejecting or jettisoning stores.
4) By Day –> Must remain within one hour transit time of a dedicated operations SAR asses (120nm) or within gliding range of land.
By Night –> Must remain within gliding distance of land, except in circumstances where the AC is on a published instrument approach.
5) Must carry out post ejection drill training on a six monthly basis.
TAF3 Fuel Requirements (03-13):
1) Can aircrew ignore the requirements of a TAF3 due to a reduction in visibility or any PROB30 or PROB40 for TS or associated severe turbulence?
1) Not to ignore any of these conditions.
Flying Operations/Solo Limits (03-05):
1) Normal Acceleration Solo Limits?
2) Max Speed solo limits?
3) PFL and Glide CCTS go around when?
4) What can’t we practice solo?
5) What height can we not fly below?
6) Can we unstrap on taxi?
7) When RWY36 expect instrument app, what instrument approach must be carried?
1) -2 to 6
2) 500 KIAS/M0.8
3) 500’ AGL in all cases
4) Spinning/Flapless Approaches
5) 250’ MSD/HAOW 600m
6) No
7) 10 mins holding (200 lbs clean, 250 tanks), not required if holding fuel arleady carried.
