7.7 Projectile Motion 1 Flashcards
what is a projectile
an object acted only on by the force of gravity
what is the acceleration of a projectile always
-g because force of gravity acts downwards
therefore the acceleration only effects the vertical motion of the object
why is the horizontal velocity of the object constant
because the acceleration of the object doesn’t have a horizontal component
velocity in vertical projection
v= u-gt
displacement in vertical projection
y = ut - 1/2 gt^2
if an object is projected faster then what will happen
the further away it’ll fall
horizontal displacement in horizontal projection
x = ut
vertical displacement in horizontal projection
y= 1/2 gt^2
- no vertical component of its initial velocity
horizontal component of velocity in horizontal projection
v = u
a vertical component of velocity in horizontal projection
v = -gt
