What are clearance fits
There is always some play after assembly
What is an interference fit
No movement is possible after assembly

Driving fit - when shaft is slightly larger than the hole
Force fit - where parts are forced together
Shrink fit - when the parts are joined to be held in place permanently
What is a transition fit
In between the interference and clearance fits there is an immediate fit called a transition fit

An allowance is rhetorical difference in dimension that is necessary to give a particular class of fit between two parts
What is a tolerance
Total amount of variation in the size of a part
