25
What are schematic drawings used for?
Used for troubleshooting by showing where objects are located in relation to each other and the direction of fluid flow
26
What are electronic schematic diagrams for?
Show symbols for components found in electrical circuits, showing function and flow rather than placement or scale
27
What are pictorial diagrams showing?
Show pictures circuit components look
28
What are schematic diagram used for?
Gives an overview representation of the complete aircraft system, which allow fault diagnosis
29
What are the orthographic projection
Front Rear Top Bottom Left side Right side
30
What is first angle?
European, shows a side of the object that is remote from it in the adjacent view
31
What is third angle?
America, shows a side of the object that is nearest to it in the adject view
32
What does an engineers sketch have?
Should have a title, the date and the sketchers name
33
What is an isometric drawing?
Constructed so that all edges form the same edges form the same angle of 30 degrees to the drawing plane, with all distances are the same length as the actual side
34
What is an oblique drawing?
An isometric drawing with one object face parallel to the drawing plane and two axis perpendicular to each other. This depth axis is typically 45 degrees
35
What are the angles in perspective drawings?
Due to perspective, the actual angles and dimensions are inaccurate
36
When reading a drawing it should be done in this order?
Read the drawing number and description of the article Check the model affected The latest change letter The next assembly listed Read illustrations Determine shape through carefully inspecting views Determine dimension
37
What are centre lines?
Long and short dashes, with the short dashes intersecting. They are unbroken for small circles
38
What are dimensions lines?
Broken in the middle to fit measurements at the midpoint
39
What are extension lines?
Used to extend the line, being very narrow and a short break where they extend away from the object
40
What are section lines?
Indicating surfaces of an object in a sectional view and are generally thin full lines with materials in them
41
What are phantom lines?
Indicates the alternate position of parts of the object or the relative position of missing part, composed of one long and two short lines
42
What are break lines?
Show portions of the object not shown on the drawing, made by solid freehand lines
43
What are hidden lines?
Indicate invisible edges or contours, with short dashes evenly spaced
44
What are outline lines or visible lines?
Used for all lines on the drawing representing visible lines on the outside
45
What are stitch lines?
Used to indicate stitching or sewing lines. Consisting of very short dashes, about half size of hidden lines
46
What are cutting plane lines?
Indicates the plane where a sectional view of the object is taken
47
What shows the maximum degree of roughness acceptability?
A single number on the symbol for surface finish in um. 1 um=0.001mm
48
What does a thick lined circle portray?
Drilled holes, and their diameter may be shown by a note. If the hole is blind, the note includes depth. Reamed holes symbols include a note. Threaded holes have thick circular lines for the thread crest and a thin, broken one for the root
49
What can holes be to accommodate fastener heads for flush fittings?
Counterbored Spot faced Countersunk
50
When depth is not given, what is necessary to achieve a flat seating?
Minimum depth
51
What information does the title block contain?
Drawing number Name of the part or assembly Scale The date Name of the firm Name of the drafter, the checker and person approving the drawing
52
How are drawing sizes identified?
By letters, with the higher the letter up the alphabet, the larger the size is
53
What are R-size drawing?
Larger illustrations made on paper 36 x 42 in
54
Is the copy of a 1:1 drawing the same?
No, the copy size may differ slightly
55
Where are revisions recorded?
In a block on the upper right hand corner of drawings
56
What are some computer graphics terms?
CAD - Computer Aided Design CADD - Computer Aided Design Drafting CAM - Computer Aided Manufacturer CAE - Computer Aided Engineering
57
What are microfilm and microfiche?
An analog storage system using film reels which are exposed and develop into photographic records
58
What sizes are microfilm available as?
16mm and 35mm
59
What is microfiche's format?
A card with pages laid out in a grip format
60
What is the ATA system breakdown?
First two numbers are system/chapter identification Third number gives the section Fourth number gives the sub section Fifth and sixth number represent the subject
61
Different types of diagrams?
Block diagrams Simplified schematics System schematics
62
How are schematic diagrams detailed?
ATA chapter sub section, page and drawing number
63
What type of information does schematic diagrams not include?
Testing
64
what do wiring diagrams show?
The detailed wiring of the system and show the size of wire and type of terminals to be used for a particular application. They show where they connect within the system and provide additional information through ATA chapters, part numbers and serial numbers
65
What wiring diagram does boeing aircraft have?
Wiring Diagram Manual (WDM) as a collection of diagrams, drawings and lisst which define the wiring and hook up of associated equipment
66
What do manufacturers use to assist or enable wire trace capability?
Uses hot links and continuations
