A

Don’t act shocked or imply judgement if they disclose NSSI

Check immediate safety

Ask about if they have thoughts of suicide

Use CARE formula

Check if HS has professional support,

Contact ISS if you do not know how to deal with the interaction

Develop a safety plan if possible

Debrief with ISS after interaction

Return to taking interactions if comfortable
