7.2 Flashcards
Density?
A measure of how much matter is in a given volume
What is density usually measured in?
Grams per millimetre and grams per cubic centimetre
Out of solid liquids and gases which one has the least amount of energy?
Solid
What us the most dense out if solids liquid and gases?
Solids because there particles are packed the closest together
Why is gas the least dense out if solids liquids and gases?
Cuz gases have the most space between particles
If an increase in energy happens, does the space between particles increase or decrease?
Space between particles increase (also becomes less dense)
If a decrease of energy happens, do the particles become closer or farther apart?
The particles become closer becoming more dense
Why is waters solid state less dense than its liquid state?
Cuz In the solid state the particles become farther apart, not closer
When you put substances in a container, what substances will layer on top and wat will later on the bottom?
The more dense substances will layer at the bottom and the less dense substance will layer at the top or float on top
How do you measure mass?
Electric scale or with balance
How do you measure volume?
Lxwxh
Displacement?
The amount of fluid, or volume, replaced, or displaced by an object when it is immersed in the fluid
How do u find density?
Mass divided by volume
What’s a fluid?
Any state of matter that can flow (liquid, gases)
