Q

WHY CAN A PERSON GET SHOCKED BY WALKING ACROSS A CARPET, THEN TOUCHING IT TO SOMETHING METAL?

A

When you walk across the carpet you accumulate a positive charge and when you get in contact with some negatively charged object, the charge accumulated on your body will discharge through the contact.(remember John Travoltage?)
