Nordic: Universal
Continental: Selective (employee contributions like social security)
Anglosaxon: Very selective (poor ppl)
Residualism
The provision of of social services through means test
Means test
A determination of an individual to see if he is eligible for social services
Decommodification
The degree to which welfare services are free of the market
Degree of decommodification for the 3 models
Social-Democratic: High decommodification
Christian-Democratic: Modest decommodification
Liberal: low decommodification
Residualistic vs Institutional view
Residualistic: Welfare available only to ppl who truly need it
Institutional: Welfare should be available for everyone
