Q

Shoulder dystocia ?

A

Shoulder Dystocia

Shoulder dystocia occurs when the fetal shoulders become stuck behind the maternal pubic symphysis after the head is delivered, preventing further delivery.

McRoberts Maneuver

1.	Position the Mother: Place her in a supine position, flex her hips, and bring her thighs tightly against her abdomen.
2.	Apply Suprapubic Pressure: Gently push above the pubic bone to dislodge the fetal shoulder.
3.	Apply Gentle Traction: Use controlled downward traction on the fetal head during contractions.

This maneuver widens the pelvic inlet and is effective in resolving shoulder dystocia in most cases.
