I ran away when I saw him
Huí cuando lo vi - ( pronounced ‘we’)
Huyo cuando lo veo
It doesn’t influence me
No me influye
Verbs that change in 1st person - go verbs
Salir - salgo
Tener - tengo
Venir - vengo
Hacer - hago
Valer - valgo
Ir and Er verbs change to zco in first person
Conducir - conduzco
Conocer - conozco
Traducir - traduzco
Ofrecer - ofrezco
Agradecer - agradezco

If we want to know how long something has been going on for - we use the present tense
I’ve lived here for 2 years
Vivo aquí desde hace 2 años
I live here since ago 2 years
For the last 2 years
They’ve played the piano for (the last) 2 years .
Tocan el piano desde hace dos años.
How long have you been playing the piano?
¿Desde cuando tocas el piano? Since when?
Cuánto tiempo llevas tocando el piano?
En español se usa el presente cuando, en inglés, usaríamos el presente continua
Are you coming tonight?
¿Vienes esta noche? Si, vengo esta noche.
