- pathogen = widespread - hard to track down + remove sources of infection
- req cooperation of large poplin
- costs a lot of money - many ppl involved

- V LIMITED
- quinine, chloroquinine, artemisinin = kill parasite + prevent reoccurring - ONLY SOON AFTER INFECTION
- if travelling to country w endemic malaria - should take anti malarial medicines
- but these are developing resistance - should use combination to avoid resistance

- AVOID CONTACT W MOSQUITOS: nets, insect repellents, full coverage clothing
- PREVENT MOSQUITOS BREEDING: remove breeding sites, proper disposal of sewage (foul water = mosquitos will breed in), biological control, chemical control
