What is reaction time?
Reaction time is the time taken for somebody to react to a circumstance/ stimulus in the environment.
What are typical values for reaction time?
0.2 s to 0.9s
What are factors which affect a driver’s reaction time?
tiredness, drugs and alcohol. Distraction may also affect a driver’s ability to react.
What is an example to test human reaction time?
a ruler drop test
Explain the ruler drop test.
the ruler drop test is an experiment carried out by two people to test the reaction time of one of them.
-a ruler is held by person B, and then dropped by the same person. Person A has their hand at the bottom of the ruler and catches it when Person B drops it. The reaction time is recorded btw the length in centimetres that it took the person to catch the ruler.
