Q

Name 6 disadvantages of adult cell cloning

A
  • concerns about ethics of cloning
  • cloning limits the variation in a population, limits the gene pool
  • concerns about using the technology to clone humans in the future
  • expensive work

Q

What is the process for adult cell cloning

A
  1. Replace nucleus of egg cell with nucleus of an adult cell from the animal you want to clone
  2. The new cell gets an electric shock to cause it to start to divide into an embryo, which is genetically identical to the adult cell
  3. When the embryo develops, it is inserted into the womb of the host animal, given birth to and is a clone of the desired animal
