Biopsy lesions. antx for infection. Pressure dressings for cauliflower ear. Alcohol to clean. amd may include oral antbx like Cephalexin, dicloxacillin for piercings.
Raised around center is SCC
the pearly one is BCC

A

inflammation of the ear canal. Usually bacterial or fungal. Caused mostly by Staph A, pseudomas, candid, aspergillus, cerumen impaction

Otitis externa

A

HX: pain and tenderness on palpation of tragus, swimming, hot tub use.
Allergies, hearing aids,cleaning ear with q-tips
PE: skin, ear canal for redness or cerumen impaction, TM, neck,
TX: cerumen removal, no q-tips
antibiotic/steroid drops: Ciprodex, cortisporin otic
Keep canal dry for 7-10 days
Alcohol/vinegar drops 2:1
No hearing aids, plugs, etc. Fluconozole 200 mg day 1 then 100 mg for days 2-5
Keep ears dry and prevent by using drops

Infection of the middle ear. Inflammation and pain. Most associated with S. Pneumonia, H. influenza, introduced in the Eustachian tube

red bulging, opague TM, no cone of light, decreased mobility, Could be retracted TM Boggy membranes in nose. Pre and post auricular lymph node swelling.

Otitis Media

A

If no better in 2-3 days, can give Amoxicillin, and 2nd generation antihistamine depending. saline drops. Breastfeed babies, vaccinate for Pneumonia. Change to Amoxicillin Clavulanate if not better in 48-72 hours. If no response then refer. If younger than 12 weeks refer. Sepsis and hearing loss could occur.
