6.1 Type I Superconductors Flashcards
1
Q
Define superconductivity
A
The vanishing of resistance in some materials at low temperatures
2
Q
Describe the properties of a Type I superconductor
A
A very sharp change at the critical temp
A critical temp that depends veyr little on the sahpe of the sample/presence of impurities (unless magnetic)
3
Q
What happens if the magnetic field exceeds B_C
A
Normal resistance is restored
4
Q
What does the presence of a critical magnetic field and temperature imply?
A
That there is a critical energy required to destroy superconductivity
