What is the companies act?
The procedure for setting up companies, documents required and type of ownership.
What is the partnership act?
How 2 or more people set up and share responsibility for the running of a business.
What is the consumer rights act?
Goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and for purpose
What is the consumer protection act?
Right to claim compensation if defective products cause death, damage or injury
What is the equality act?
Protecting people from discrimination in work or society
(Sex, race, disability)
What is the health and safety at work act?
Reasonable protection of health, safety and welfare of all individuals in the workplace. Including providing safety equipment and training where appropriate
What is the working time directive?
Workers cannot be forced to work more than an average 48 hours a week over a 17-week period
What is the national minimum wage act?
The minimum amount of pay a worker is entitled to earn per hour.

What is the data protection act & GDPR?
The control of personal information held about individuals by businesses and government and the rights that individuals data cannot be shared without the individuals consent
What is planning permission?
Laws affecting the carrying out of developments to buildings or other land
What is Copyright, Designs and Patents Act?
Protection of:
Copyright - Intellectual property that allows the owner to make exclusive copies of drama, music, art etc
Designs - Original drawings, photographs, data stored in a computer etc
Patents. The making, using or selling of an invention or innovation
