What is a civil dispute?
A disagreements between 2 or more individuals (or groups) in which one party makes a legal claim against another
What does a civil dispute involve?

What is the process of a civil dispute
Attempts to resolve dispute -> claim issued in court -> pre-trial procedures -> hearing/trial -> remedy awarded -> enforcement procedures
What is civil law?
An area of law that defines the rights and responsibilities of individuals, groups and organisations in society, and regulates private disputes
What are the parties in a civil dispute?
The plaintiff - commences the civil action and has had their rights infringed
The defendant - the alleged party who has infringed the plaintiff’s rights
What is vicarious liability?
The legal responsibility of a third party for the wrongful acts of another eg. employer
