What are the common masculine endings?
The following endings are typically masculine: -age, -ège, -ème, -aume, -ôme, -om(m)e, -isme, -cide.
The ending -eur tends to be masculine if it refers to people or technology, but feminine if it refers to abstract concepts.
(EDIT: verb-noun compounds are typically masculine: une bouteille, un ouvre-bouteille)
What are the common feminine endings?
-e words other than age, -ège, -ème, -aume, -ôme, -om(m)e, -isme, -cide are typically feminine. Words ending with -iste are both.
