Call for Service Broadcast
A means by which a dispatcher announces a call that is holding in a specific district or beat.
General Broadcasts/Lookouts.
Files IN THE CAD system that contain information about crimes, wanted persons, missing persons, or vehicles.
Preliminary Pickup Information
Information relayed over the radio or via the Computer Aided Dispatch/Mobile Computing Device (CAD/MCD) systems prior to entering a complete General Broadcast/Lookout.
A General Broadcast/Lookout may be initiated by the following:
CITIZENS (reporting incidents)
HPD OFFICERS (responding to incidents)
Other LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES (reporting or
responding to incidents)
HPD DISPATCH (receiving information from officers)
HOUSTON EMERGENCY CENTER (HEC) call takers (receiving information from citizens)
When should CALL TAKERS enter General Broadcasts/Lookouts on possible stolen vehicles or vehicles?
An entry should be made only after a call for service has been entered.
When should DISPATCHERS enter General Broadcasts/Lookouts with information relayed to them from classified personnel?
An entry shall be made only after an initial response by a unit on a call for service or on an on-viewed incident.
When shall Dispatchers make a GB/Lookout from a Preliminary Pickup?
Once they have more complete information via the telephone, radio or MCD
Who shall enter the info needed to make a “Lookout” and get a number when officers enter it?
Dispatcher
Who shall enter the info needed to make a “Lookout” and get a number when information is relayed to call takers?
Call Takers
How do completed Lookout/GBs get a number?
Enter them into CAD and computer automatically assigns
What shall occur if a Lookout regarding suspects or vehicles is disseminated over CAD?
Dispatcher prints it out and retains it until end of shift or not needed
How long shall a GB/Lookout entered into CAD for a stolen vehicle last?
1 day
What is the most frequently reported incident involving vehicles?
Auto Thefts
When shall a Lookout for a stolen vehicle no longer be nessecary?
When vehicle is entered as stolen
What shall not be listed in the Lookout Form (LOO) for license plates?
Partial or incomplete, put those in text portion
