60 Day BMS Flashcards
Accept Feedback as a Gift
If you can metabolize feedback, you get a competitive advantage. Establish a routine where you can get regular feedback from people you trust. Then use it to grow
See yourself as an economic investment
Always think how you can bring more benefit to your clients and partners. Give people a great return on their investments in you
Be a hero, not a victim
See yourself as a hero, so you can deal with any challenge and find a win. Don’t focus on unfair conditions and give in, don’t waste energy on villain and victim parts
De-escalate the Drama
When bad things happen, don’t overreact, stay calm and think what this drama made possible. Don’t confuse, find the glitter of light
The right way to engage conflict
Engage conflicts to reach objectives, without escalating drama. Reasons to engage may include:
1. Poor performance 2. Unmet expectations 3. Budget overage 4. Misunderstanding.
4 Steps to take:
- Expect conflicts, tensions happen during progress
- Control emotions
- Affirm the person you’re confronting
- Understand you could be wrong
Be trusted and respected instead of liked
Great leaders provide their team with:
- Clarity (everybody knows the vision and knows their role in the vision - what is expected from them)
- Accountability (make sure people do what is expected of them)
- Rewards - tell them, encourage them once they’ve achieved what is expected
Be biased towards action
Think about everything that needs to be done:
- Have you taken action on any of those things?
- Are you driving your goals to completion?
Choose not to be confused
When confused about the right decisions to make, ask yourself:
If I were not confused, what would be my action
Set a deadline to take that action
Be relentlessly optimistic
Set big goals, believe it’s possible, move! Be relentless if you fail
Have a growth mindset
Get better every day
