The child understands that there is more than one POV and that an authority figure isn’t always right. Mom won’t let you get a cookie, but Grandma will.
Conventional Morality: Morality is tied to relationships: Stage 1

The child behaves to gain social acceptance.
Conventional Morality: Morality is tied to relationships: Stage 2
Stage two: Maintaining the Social Order :
The child behaves to not be a disruption or rock the boat.
Postconventional Morality: Morality is tied to relationships: Stage 1
Stage one: Social Contract and Individual Rights:
*The child understands that rules are in place for a reason, but there are grey areas about what’s right and wrong.

Stage two: Universal Principles:
People decide what they believe is right and wrong. Adhere to their own rules instead of trying to fit in.
