There are different sources of information (on new products) whate the two different paradigms?
- manufacturer active paradigm = manufacturer is active, customer reacts and waits
- Customer active paradigm = customer is active and indicates need for new product, build prototype, valuation diffuses information
What are lead users?
users that come up with products themselves based on the need they have. Companies take over the development afterwards
Lead users ..
- Experience a certain need before the rest of the market
- Would benefit largely from a fulfilment of this need
Why would a lead user give up their prototype?
- specialised companies might be able to create better products, which would solve thir problems even better
- lead users are not entrepreneurs, they just want their problem to be solved

- Manufacturers have the perception of taking too much time
- Engineers.technicians think they know it better
