God gave the Law to teach them how he expected them to live as his people
What were the main features of the covenant God made with the Israelites at Mount Sinai?
God promised that he would be their God and that they would be his people. The people had to follow God’s Law, encapsulated or summarized in the Ten Commandments. If they kept the Law, they would be blessed, but if they disobeyed, they would be punished.
how did God provide for his people during their wilderness wanderings?
God gave them manna and quail to eat, water to drink, leadership in Moses and Aaron, direction in the pissar of cloud, and healing from the bites of the poisonous snakes.
why did the people wander in the wilderness for so many years?
God was teaching his people, little by little, to trust completely in him. The Israelites needed to learn that God would provide for their needs, that he would lead them to their new land, and that he would win their battles for them.
what was significant about he Israelites crossing the Jordan and conquering Jericho?
they were beginning to take possesion of the land God had promised them - and they were doing to God’s way

They needed to be reminded - again - to serve the Lord, not the idols of the land they had conquered.

they wanted a king in order to be like the other nations around them; they also wanted a kind to lead them in battle
