Class A air traffic airspace consists of:

IFR separated from IFR and given info on VFR
VFR recieve air traffic info on all other flights
Traffic avoidence given when requested by pilot
Class E air traffic airspace consists of:
IFR and VFR
IFR require ATC clearance
IFR separated from IFR
All flights recieve traffic info as appropriate
Class F air traffic airspace consists of:
IFR and VFR
IFR recieve procedural or deconfliction service
All flights recieve basic or traffic service on request
Class G air traffic airspace consists of:
IFR and VFR
All flights may recieve a service outside of controlled airspace if requested
What is an ATSU?
Air traffic service unit
What services does an Area Control Centre (ACC) seevice provide?
- air traffic control to IFR flights operating on airways
- flight information (FIS) and alerting services
- distress and diversion service
Who shares the total air traffic control responsibility?
Aerodrome control and approach control
What is the function of the ‘tower’?
To control aircraft on the runways and those in or joining the circuit. (In smaller aerodromes they will also be in charge of aircraft on the manoeuvring area)
What is the function of ‘ground’ for aerodrome control?
They are responsible for aircraft on the manoeuvring area. In smaller aerodromes this will be the towers responsibility
Who is in charge of aerodrome control?
The tower and the ground
What is approach control?
It is responsible for traffic leaving the circuit, joining VFR or IFR or operating in the vacinity of the aerodrome
