5A- Limiting Factors In Photosynthesis Flashcards
1
Q
What are the optimum conditions for photosynthesis?
A
High intensity of certain light waves
-Light is needed to provide energy, the higher the intensity, the more energy. (Red and blue).
Temperature around 25C
-Photosynthesis involves enzymes. If the temperature falls below 10C the enzymes become inactive, but if it’s more than 45c denature occurs.
Carbon dioxide at 0.4%
- In the atmosphere it’s 0.04%, if you increase it to 0.4 it gives a higher rate of photosynthesis, but any higher and the stomata starts to close.
Also needs a constant supply of water.
