53. Neuroradiology Flashcards
1
Q
What color is CSF, white matter, blood on CT?
A
CSF: dark
White Matter: less gray
Blood: White (due to Hb structure)
2
Q
MRI: what is the difference between T1 and T2?
A
T1: good anatomic detail, poor pathology
White matter = white
Gray matter = gray
CSF = black
T2: excellent for pathology White matter = dark gray Gray matter = light gray CSF = white T2 FLAIR: attenuate CSF to black - sensitive to acute hemorrhage
3
Q
What is the difference between DWI and PWI
A
DWI: shows INFARCTED/DEAD Tissue
PWI: identifies hypoxic tissue (SALVAGEABLE and dead) tissue
4
Q
What is fMRI?
What is Diffusion Tensor Imaging?
A
fMRI: anatomical localization of brain function = more activity = more CBF = less deoxyHb = more MRI signal (map Brodmann’s Areas)
DTI: map white matter axon tracts in 3D - helps determine tumor invasiveness
