- Caledonian Road (not regenerated)

what is a land use survey? and what can you use to present your results from it?
-it’s a stratified/systematic sampling method
-you had to walk down the street and record every other shop you walk passed
-you had to write down the shops name, the shop type, and weather it sold convenience or comparison goods.

what did you find from doing a land use survey on Caledonian road?
there was a balance between convenience goods (food) and services (cafes or restaurants), and comparison (hair dressers, dental practice)
what did you find from doing a land use survey in Kings Cross centre?
almost all the businesses were convenience stores (restaurants, bars, cafes, shops) and only very few comparison businesses (offices, visitor centre)
what is a clone town survey? and what can you use to present your results from it?
-It’s a random sampling method.
-you have to walk around the area and tally the number of chain stores and independent stores.

- there wasn’t much traffic

-you had to politely go and ask people if you could ask them about there experience and judgement of the area.

- people felt very safe during the day and relatively safe during the night
- most people were residents or worked within 2 miles
- people said it was environmentally okay.
- people said they would recommend living there (good transport links and nice community with independent shops)

- people felt very safe during the day and the night.
- people were there for work.
- they said the environment was very good
- and people said that they may recommend the area as it is a nice modern area with good transport links however it’s very expensive.
