MPS vs Peroxide

A
  • mps usually not preservative free Which can cause allergi reaction
  • mps requires better compliance due to cleaning measures
  • but peroxide allows automatic cleaning overnight so used if px compliance is very bad
  • peroxide still requires compliance as px has to neutralise
  • peeroxide cleans much better

How to resolve problems

A
  • change lens
    • high WC has dehydration tendency
    • low modulus has better comfort and less mechanical complications. Higher odulus can dry out more quickly
    • modality - dailies preferable as monthlies can wear out more easily
  • change solution
    • to peroxide if allergies
  • change material
    • SiHy can cause lipid deposits

When not to fit SiHy

A
  • wettability, decreased so harder to stay moist
  • comfort, SiHy may take some adaptation
  • lipid deposits
  • CLPC, hydrogel has thinner edge profile
  • risk of keratitis
