physical response to stressor; confront, escape, or avoid
Exhaustion Phase
third phase of GAS; reserves depleted/exhausted after dealing with stressor for long time
Tend-and-Befriend Theory
women nurture themselves and other, and bond together when stressed
Problem-Focused Coping
stress is a problem to be solved and working until solution is found (stress resolved)
Emotion-Focused Coping
managing emotional response to stress; calming down
Deep breathing
focus on inhaling through nose and out through mouth to calm the body
Meditation
create relaxation by focusing on thoughts, attention, emotions and breathing
