Q

What are the levels of Turbulence and the associated descriptions?

A

Light:

  • IAS changes of 5-15kts
  • Rhythmic bumpiness
  • Still easily serve passengers

Moderate:

  • IAS changes of 15-25kts
  • Changes to attitude and altitude but always under control
  • Difficult to serve passengers
  • Must be reported

Severe:

  • IAS changes >25kts
  • Large changes to attitude and altitude, temporarily out of control
  • Impossible to serve passengers
  • Must be reported
