It is the most accessible part of town, many roads converge at the CBD and the main bus and railway stations are found here.
The CBD tends to have a grid iron street pattern because this enables as many buildings as possible to be put on land and reduces traffic.
Only businesses like large retail chains and major banks can afford the high property prices and rent, As a result few people live in the CBD.
Buildings are built upwards to save space.

There are rivers, canals and railways so industries can transport things.
Has a mixture of industry’s and warehouses built for workers.
Many cities have changed the inner city for example new buildings for jobs, housing for people and leisure facilities.

Houses built for families and people with cars. There are cul de sacs , twisting crescents and speed bumps which force drivers to slow down making it safer for for families who live there.
There is more green and open spaces so parks and golf courses are usually found here.
Describe and Explain 3 Characteristics of the Green Belt?
It is designed to stop urban sprawl.
The main land use is for farms and animals. The land in the green belt is the cheapest , so big families are usually found here. It is quiet and safe because there is not a lot of cars which means there is less pollution.
Describe 4 reasons why traffic congestion has increased in Glasgow?
Increasing Car Numbers : every year the number of cars increase which means more cars on the road causing traffic problems.
Commuters: 25% of people who work in Glasgow commute. This creates severe congestion in the morning and evening rush hours.
Few Bridging Points: There are not enough bridges across the River Clyde.
Narrow Streets: Most of the streets in the CBD and inner city are narrow, Car parking reduces the number of cars that can pass freely through the streets.

Improving Public Transport: Increase the number of bus lanes to allow buses to move quickly around the city.
Upgrade the Underground so that it is safer and Cleaner.
More Car Park buildings so there are less cars on the street reducing traffic congestion.
Introducing one way system to help traffic flow, many drivers find this confusing so are deterred from taking their car into the CBD.
Add comfier seats and wifi on buses so people will use public transport more often.
Using electronic noticeboards to alert drivers where there is congestion and enables them to take an alternate route.
Why have out of town shopping centers become more popular?

They are undercover so people are sheltered from weather.
