Considerations
Subsequent assessments should be completed with the same height chair.
If a patient is unable to perform 5TSTS, the tester may document the number of stands, time, and compensatory movements; however, this is not considered a trial of the 5TSTS test
Scoring
- Score is the amount of time it takes for a patient to transfer from a seated position to a standing position and back to sitting five times.
- Time is documented to the nearest decimal.
- A score of 0 is given when patient is unable to perform repetitions without the use of arms

6.5 +- 1.2 seconds

<60 years old: 10 seconds
>60 years old: 14.2 seconds
Community dwelling older adults cut off scores
>/= 12 seconds identifies the need to further assess for falls >/= 15 seconds = risk of falling
