2) Heat sample in water bath to 100 degrees Celsius
3) If sugar is present, turns Brick Red

1) If tests negative first time (stays blue)
Add Hydrochloric acid (HCL)
2) Boil in water bath
3) Test it again
If it turns red= non reducing sugar
If stays blue= it’s not a sugar/ no carbohydrate
