Examples of good housekeeping
- Stairways, passages and gangways should be free from obstruction.
- Materials and equipment should be stored tidily so as not to cause obstruction
- Tools should not be left laying around causing tripping hazards
- Working areas should be kept clean and tidy
- Spillages of oil and other substances must be contained and cleaned immediately
- All flammable liquids, LPG and gas cylinders must be stored properly.
What are prohibition signs?
These signs indicate an activity which must not be done.

What are warning signs.
These provide safety information and/or give warnings of hazard or danger

When should barriers be used?
- To prevent contact with live parts.
- To prevent people falling into excavations.
- To prevent people coming into contact with moving parts of machinery.
What is Access and Egress.
Access and Egress refers to entry and exit to a workplace or work area.
