What are Process Groups?
Logically grouped sub-sets of project management processes; which do not always occur sequentially.
What are the 5 Processes Groups?
1) Initiating, 2) Planning, 3) Executing, 4) Monitoring and Controlling, 5) Closing
What is Initiating?
Define a new project or phase of an existing project; obtaining authorization to start the project or phase; sets high level expectations.
What is Planning?
Establish the complete scope of the project; define objectives and determine course of action needed to attain the objectives.
What is Executing?
Performing the work defined in the project management plan to satisfy the project sanctification.
What is Monitoring and Closing?
Track, review, and regulate the progress and performance of the project; identify areas in which changes to the plan are required; documenting and implementing the corresponding changes.
What is Closing?
Finalize all activities across all process groups to formally close the projects or phase.
What is the sequential order for Phases?
1) Initiating, 2) Planning, 3) Executing, 4) Closing. Monitoring and Controlling is done through the project.
