5. Probability Flashcards

Q

What are mutually exclusive and independent events?

A

Mutually exclusive: when events have no outcomes in common, do not overlap in a Venn diagram, P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B)
Independent events: when one event has no effect on another, P(A and B) = P(A) X P(B)
